Introduction to my 3D Printing

Hello all! I am Konor, and this is my blog site! With blog posts and such! I’m currently a Senior within MSHS and my plans for beyond High School are to do *something.* (Also known as, it’s complicated. There’s many routes I’m still considering.)

What I’m hoping to get out of SFI is a chance to use some technology I’d never have access to, with knowledge I wouldn’t be able to strive for on my own. I also want to use it as a chance to channel some creative energy. My two strengths I’d give myself are my abilities to use and enjoy a wide variety of technology and an even stronger ability to adapt to it. Learning new technologies is always fun (yet still daunting) to me!

My personal project I had been working on up to this point was a VR Environment that I had dubbed ‘Improvidence.’ It had been going decently well and I managed to setup some sort of starter environment within Unity, though it definitely would’ve needed a lot more knowledge and effort to make something truly special. I think I’d like to take a step back though and pursue other personal projects to see what all I can get into. The biggest challenge in this class was getting adjusted back to it with all the chaos we had, along with my personal chaos that I had from being an online learner last year. However, all that chaos is starting to wear off, so I can’t wait to find a new challenge to try and fight.

This blog post is on my next and newest project, a Christmas Ornament, made almost purely from 3D Printed materials. The plan for my ornament is to make it out of 3 parts. There will be a ‘base’, a ‘topper’ and a ‘window.’

The Base will be a solid semi-sphere that’ll be the bottom layer for the spherical ornament. The Topper will be nearly identical, except it will have a hollowed out center. The Topper and Base will connect together and within the hollowed out space will be some Christmas-themed decorations. Then, it’ll be finished with a Window piece. The Window piece will be a layer of transparent filament that’ll allow vision inside the ornament.

Anyways, so that’s my plan! Thanks for reading the utter wall of text, I wanna keep you all posted more.
